ANNUAL REPORT OF THE VIDYALAYA 2016-17
Good Morning one and all. It’s my proud privilege to extend a hearty welcome to Hon’ble Chief Guest, most revered the first lady of the campus 223 ABOD Mrs. Shikha Singh Saran, and our distinguished guests Mrs. Shaheen Khan, Mrs. Jeetu Sihag, Mrs. Ankur Singh and Mrs. Anushree Chatterjee to the Sports Day cum Annual Prize Distribution 2016-17, who have spared their valuable time to grace the occasion with their benign presence.
There is a great saying: “Real education fetches you more than a job. It teaches you to live. It cannot be measured in any tangible way.”
While sharing the yearly updates of our activities, it gives me immense pleasure to apprise the distinguished guests about the activities and achievements of our vidyalaya for the session 2016-17. I take the modesty to say that we did our best to do as we had planned and I am proud of my students and teachers for striving hard to achieve beyond expectations. Our students excelled in every field by winning top positions in academics, various competitions held at school, cluster, regional and national level and even in the activities outside KVS.
In the academic sphere, our vidyalaya showed outstanding results in Class XII 2016 with pass percentage of 98.88 showing the hike of 4.08% as compared to the pass percentage of previous year (97.80%)
32.23% of our students got distinctions and 74.45% are first divisioners who got 60% and above.
It is a matter of great pride for us that our vidyalaya has been on top position in Class XII Result in Jalandhar Cluster comprising of 6 schools.
Not only in Class XII but in Class X Board Examination also, our vidyalaya excelled by achieving the target of 100% result with the performance index of 74 showing the hike of 3.5% as compared to last year.
Twelve students of Class X got 10 CGPA. They have been awarded merit certificates by CBSE and cash prize of Rs. 5000/- each.
In the field of Games & Sports, the hard and sincere efforts of our budding sports stars made us feel proud by bringing the laurels to the vidyalaya at Regional as well as National Level. Our teams participated in Basketball, Handball, Badminton, cricket and Athletics at regional Level in which they won 4 gold medals in Athletics (Boys), 5 gold medals in Athletics (girls), 1 gold medal in Handball (Girls), 4 Gold Medals in Badminton (Boys), 4 Gold Medals in Badminton (Girls),1 gold medal in Cricket (Boys U-19), 1 silver in Basketball (Boys), 1 silver in Handball (Boys), 1 silver in Badminton (boys) Individual, 1 silver in Athletics (Girls), 2 silver medals in Athletics (Boys).
Total 19 Gold, 6 Silver medals were bagged by the students of our Vidyalaya at Regional Level. ‘Master Virender Pratap Singh of Class VIII B (Under-14)’ was declared the ‘Best Athlete’ of Jammu Region.
At National Level: Km. Avneet Kaur Gill of XI Commerce won Gold Medal and cash prize Rs. 10000/- in Triple Jump and Silver Medal and cash prize Rs. 8000/- in long jump. She was selected for SGFI (long jump & Triple jump)
Km. Manmeet Kaur of Class VIII A participated in long jump and bagged silver medal with cash prize Rs. 8000/- and got selected for SGFI (200 mt.)
Md. Saraj Siddique of Class XI C participated in 800 mt, 1500 mt, 4 X 400 mt relay race. He bagged Bronze Medal and cash prize Rs. 2000/- for relay race.
Virender Pratap Singh of Class VIII B participated in 100 mt, long jump and 600 mt race and got silver medal and cash prize Rs. 8000/- for 600 mt. race. He also got selected for SGFI for 600 mt race.
Avneet Kaur Gill won two Gold medals in Long jump and Triple Jump and Manmeet Kaur won Bronze medal in 100 mt. Race in 91st Open Punjab Athletics Championship.
Avneet Kaur Gill and Manmeet Kaur also won three Gold medals and one Silver medal in Sports Authority of India Tournament- KHELO INDIA 2016-17
Social Science Exhibition: We believe in creating suitable environment for creativity and innovations. Our students showcased their talent and skill in the form of innovative projects in Social science Exhibition.
Cluster level social science Exhibition was held at K.V No. 1 Jalandhar Cantt. Forty students of our Vidyalaya participated in this Exhibition-cum-National Integration Camp. I feel happy to announce that Master Rohit Arora of Class X B and Nanu of Class XII Sci. got first position in Quiz. Ananya of VIII A got first position in painting competition, Aarti of IX C stood first in Poem recitation. Megha of XII Sci got third position in Hindi debate and Nikita Shinde of XII Sci. bagged second position in English debate.
At Regional level Social Sc. Exhibition, 4 students participated. Rohit Arora of X B and Nanu of XII sci. got first position in Quiz. Ananya of VIII A also got first position in painting.
At National Level Social Sc. Exhibition, 3 students of our vidyalaya participated. It’s an honor to announce that Jammu Region got third position overall at national level.
Our budding scientists exhibited their talent in the field of science and brought honor to the school by their remarkable achievements.
Our students also participated in “Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan” conducted by NCERT. 120 students were selected at the State Level. 3 students of our school were selected out of 120 students:- Naksh Bhatia of IX A, Rohit Arora of X B and Shipra Gupta of Class XI Sci.
Shipra Gupta of Class XI Sci. bagged third position with cash prize of Rs. 2000/-
Our students excelled in 24th National Children Science Congress, two students Raavi of IX C and Devangi Sharma of VII A were selected for National Level NCSC.
We appreciate and recognize the sincere efforts of our young scientists for bringing laurels to school.
To develop appropriate concern and responsibility among students Scouts and Guides units have been doing excellent work. Total 224 students were enrolled as Scouts, Guides, Cubs and Bulbuls. They performed very well in their prescribed activities under the able guidance of the well qualified Scout Masters, Guide Captains, Flock Leaders and Cub Masters. Seven Scouts and eight guides of our vidyalaya passed “Tritiya Sopan Testing Camp” held at K.V no. 3 Jalandhar Cantt and 6 guides and 2 scouts attended “Rajya Puruskar Testing Camp” at KV No. 3 Pathankot and cleared the same successfully.
NCC: This is for your kind information that our school is having two Punjab Naval Units of NCC with Cadet Sanctioned strength of 50 Cadets i.e. half troop for Junior Wing (Girls) and Junior Division (Boys).
CCA: For the proper exposure of hidden talent of young children, the vidyalaya plans and executes co-curricular activities in which a number of competitions like calligraphy, poem recitation, painting competition, etc. are organized in which our students take part with full enthusiasm.
“Sarv Dharam Prarthana” was conducted on the very first day of the session to convey the message of oneness, unity and integrity.
“Azadi Sattar Saal” Yaad Karo Kurbani was observed w.e.f. 9th August to 23rd August 2016 during which many competitions like greeting card making, painting, slogan, solo song and fancy dress competitions were held.
“Sanskrit Week” and “Language Week” were also celebrated. Various competitions were organized at School & Cluster Level. Results of Language Week at Cluster Level are as follow:
Nikita of VIII B got third position in Shlok Recitation, Aarti of IX C got first position in Hindi Poem Recitation, Aditi of VIII A won second position in English Elocution and Shipra Gupta of XI Sci. bagged third position in English Elocution.
“Swachhata Pakhwada” from 01.09.2016 to 15.09.2016 was celebrated with full fervor. Various activities were planned and executed involving all the students and teachers. Our students sensitized the people of surrounding areas about the importance of cleanliness by taking out the rally.
Students from Primary wing participated in “Bal Diwas” at Cluster Level held at K.V. No. 1 Jalandhar Cantt (Literary activities). 85 students participated in literary, sports and cultural activities and brought laurels to Vidyalaya.
Our achievements at Cluster Level (Bal Diwas), 14 students participated in Literary Activities organized at KV No. 1 Jalandhar Cantt. Dishant Jassal of V A and Sukriti of IV A secured third position in “Best Out of Waste”. In Sports Activities, 44 students participated. Muskan Jassal of III B stood first in Lemon and Spoon Race, Nisha of IV B bagged second position in Skipping race and Sandeep of V B bagged second position in Flat Race.
The students and teachers of our vidyalaya have always shown deep concern for “Social Services” from time to time. They raised fund of Rs. 9400/- for the help of war widows and Rs. 5000/- for National Foundation for Communal Harmony. This organization is working for the help of under priviledged children.
Excursion and tours give exposure to the students and help them face the world with confidence and boldness. Keeping this thought in mind, our vidyalaya organized various adventure courses and educational trips to different places. 40 students (20 girls + 20 boys) escorted by 4 teachers went to JIM and WS at Sanasar J & K for special adventure course w.e.f. 16.05.2016 to 25.05.2016. many students of our vidyalaya got opportunity to visit places viz Science City Kapurthala, Potato Research Centre, Company Bagh, Talhan Village, Verka Milk Plant, Punjab Kesari Press etc. which made students aware of rich Indian culture, advancement in Science & Technology and new techniques of making different products of milk and potatoes etc. These tours have really been very enlightening and fruitful for our students.
Besides developing the physical and mental abilities of the students, we believe in developing technical skills to enable them to use technology with ease and confidence. I feel honored to announce that 15 classes of our vidyalaya have been converted into smart classes. Out of 15 smart classes, 5 classes are connected with I-Pads.
Our campus is wi-fi connected. We have fully automated library with availability of books on all subjects and competitive exams.
Our students participated in Intellimind Quiz in C.T. Shahpur where 95 schools had participated and Its my pleasure to announce that our quiz team comprising Nanu of Class XII Sci., Rahul of XI Sci. and Rohit of Class X B got second position and won cash prize of Rs. 21000/-.
Different competitions were organized in CT Group on 21st January 2017 in which 50 schools participated and our students Nanu of Class XII Sci., Rahul of XI Sci. and Rohit of Class X B got First position in Quiz, Ramiz of X B and Ananya Mahey of VIII A bagged second position in poster making competition.
It’s a matter of great pride to announce that Damanpreet Singh of Class IX C, a student of our Vidyalaya secured his place in Indian team to participate in HKSZ Youth World Cup and DPL Warm-up Tour 2017 on 30th March 2017in which teams of Pakistan, England, UAE and India participated and our Indian team brought an honor to our country and to the vidyalaya also, by winning “Winner Trophy” in this World Cup.
Our vidyalaya has been marching ahead with the goal of achieving excellence in all the fields. For all these achievements, I would like to extend my deep gratitude to our highly esteemed Deputy Commissioner, worthy Assistant commissioners for their valuable guidance from time to time for the betterment of the vidyalaya.
I express my sincere thanks to our well-wisher and philanthropic Col. Navdeep Singh Saran, Commandant 223 ABOD & Chairman VMC for extending his whole-hearted support and co-operation at every stage.
I would like to express my deep gratitude Shri G. L. Gola DIG CRPF, Commandant, ITBP and Commandant, FAD for their kind support and help whenever it was required.
I extend my sincere thanks to the first lady Mrs. Shikha Singh Saran 223 ABOD for giving her kind consent to chair the function. I thank all other distinguished guests for their benign presence to grace the occasion.
I would like to thank the parents for extending their co-operation and involvement for the betterment of the students.
Last but not the least I would like to thank all the members of my staff and students for their sincere efforts, hard work and preparations for making this event a grand success.
